YOUR SPIRITUAL PARENTS AND YOU Pt.2

January 29, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Eph6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

When I was in school as an undergraduate, I embarked on a fast during one of the holidays. I was hungry for God and desirous of a new level in God. The Spirit of God led me to someone that would birth me into that desired level spiritually and I submitted myself to her as a spiritual son till date.

There are certain similarities in the functions of an earthly parent and a spiritual parent. God gave us earthly parents to guide us, provide and ensure that we receive proper care. The head start we need in life is given to us by our earthly parents likewise our spiritual parent. In God, there are levels (babyhood, Childhood and Manhood). It takes being under a spiritual parent to move from one level to the other.

Many believers fail in their walk with God because they are not properly discipled. God has a process for everything and we cannot jump processes and expect to fulfil his purpose for our lives. Benson Idahosa was doing fine in ministry but God instructed him to go find Pa Elton in Ilesha to disciple him. Great destinies need the nurture, instruction and care of spiritual parents.
