Prov2:11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
Several people believe fasting impress God. The approach of many to fasting is entirely physically oriented and not spiritual that is why there lots of argument about whether water can be taken during fasting or not. It must be noted that fasting shouldn't harm your health so if a little sip of water would help you out of dehydration, please take it because dehydration is harmful to your health. Dehydration can raise blood pressure and cause other damages to your body.
Fasting doesn't change God but rather it changes you and make your spirit-man more receptive to God's move. What that means invariably is that, it is not the fasting that supplies power neither does it impress God but rather it positions us to tap from God whose power and virtues are ever-flowing for the unusual to happen in us and through us. Fasting subdues the barrier between man and God- the flesh.
When you fast, your spirit-man comes alive to serve God, your soul( will, intellect&emotion) serves your spirit and your body serves your soul. When your fasting is focused on trying to impress God or to cause bodily harm or damage to your health so that you can make your body feel the effect of fasting, you're wrong. The aim of your fasting should be to take away the control of the flesh and make your spirit-man come alive to relate with his creator.
I receive wisdom on this matter In Jesus name
