Gal6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
In my few years as a Christian, I have seen several cases of discipline in the church. In most cases, the Pastor would come out in a workers meeting To pronounce the suspension on an erring brother or sister. In most cases, I see that something is usually wrong somewhere. Not with the act of discipline but with the way it was executed.
Biblically, discipline is meant to make the offender better and to find the path of true repentance but more often than not, that's not what I see happen. I can count on my fingers people that were burning for the Lord that backslided real deep because the church suspended them but didn't restore them. The scripture recommended that we should restore those over taken in a fault GENTLY so that we oursel ves won't fall into thesame temptation.
Some leaders didn't restore gently, they made so much noise about the suspension and ended up disgracing someone that should be restored. When such leaders fall into the same sin, they don't come out to confess to the people of God because of shame. When you notice a brother that has backslided, prayerfully and gently restore the person
In humility. Don't act like 'Mr super holy'.
He that thinketh he stand should take heed lest he fall.
Father, I receive grace to be used as an agent of restoration for the backslidden In Jesus name.
