FAST WITH DISCRETION Pt.1

January 18, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Prov2:11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

When I was in my finals in school, I did a lot of marathon fasting. There was a time I stayed back in school during the holidays just to pray. On one of those fasting days, I had stayed for days without food and water. I was on my bed praying for several hours. I felt a need to stretch my body so I stood up. Not long after, it was as if a whirl wind took me up and slammed me on the ground.

I didn't get myself for some minutes and I was the only one left in the room. I knew that experience wasn't demonic but because I have exhausted the energy in my body. I was inflicting pain on that body instead of managing so that I can have enough energy to pray. I rushed to the nearest drink vendor to get myself two bottles of drinks with sugar so that I can regain a little praying energy.

Dearest, if you fast and die, your fasting haven't glorified God. I heard of a preacher who fasted for forty days and died on 41st day and some fasted till they had haemorrhoids. All these is lack of wisdom combined with zeal. If you fast and can not pray because of tiredness, use your discretion to stay healthy and alive to pray during your fasting period; a little infusion of glucose into your body wouldn't be a sin in a long fast so that you can have a little energy to pray.

Action point

I receive spiritual common sense to fast effectively In Jesus Name. Amen
