1Cor1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
Kenneth E. Hagin told the story on how he was not in God's perfect will for his life in his first 15 years of ministry. He pastored for 12 years and later he felt God was calling him to do the work of an evangelist. Later when he prayed through, God made his purpose known to him that his real calling was to operate in the prophetic and teaching ministry.
When you look at his life, before he started walking in God's purpose for his life, he was walking around it because those offices have some similarities especially preaching but as far as God was concerned, he wasn't in purpose yet. Paul made it clear that God's calling upon his life was to preach the gospel and not to baptize.
Is it wrong if an apostle of Paul's calibre baptizes? No,but all the same, that's not God's purpose for him. There are evangelists doing the work of a Pastor, though similar in purpose but different in target. Take time to pray to know the exact thing God wants you to do and stop doing things that are similar to it. It is dangerous to do things that are close to God's purpose for your life and not the real thing.
Walk in purpose, not around it
