Eph6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Most times, we often hear some believers refer to others as their son in the Lord while others are fond of their father in the Lord. Spiritual parenthood is biblical and there are examples of such in the bible. There are several definitions and assumptions about who a spiritual parent is but I'll try to give you a concise definition.
A spiritual father or parent is someone that is saddled with the responsibility of discipling his spiritual children. Discipleship is what makes a spiritual father or parent in the Lord. It is a very dangerous thing for you as a believer not to have a spiritual parent because just as God has given us earthly parents to give us a good head-start in life, the same also applies in spiritual things.
Apostle Paul made it clear that we should obey our parents in the Lord. If you don't have someone that you are accountable to on spiritual things, there is a high tendency of being misguided. No man can outgrow discipleship, it is a lifelong spiritual training that makes us to be more like Christ. Don't be an isolated Christian, prayerfully establish a relationhship with a spiritual parent for discipleship.
