2Cor4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
When we watch t.v. or read the dailies, there are lot of adverts on face-lifting, make-up kits and other things that could be used to make our bodies smooth and fresh. The business of making people look good outwardly is raking in millions of dollars and would continue to do so.
The emphasis on renewing the man on the inside which is our spirit is low. There are beauty shops and kits all around open for patronage but a few people see the need to take care their spirit man. Whether you like it or not, when you grow old your skin will shrink and wrinkle. Then, make-ups won't be able to cover-up for the ageing skin. Why spend so much on what is temporal and neglect the eternal?
The 'make-up' for your inward man is the word of God. You can train your spirit to hear God accurately if you feed it well with God's word. Just as physical food is useful to your outward man so is the word of God to your spirit man. When you relate with God's spiritually, your spirit man is renewed. It is an exercise that should be done daily not just on sundays.
