FAST WITH DISCRETION Pt.2

January 19, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Prov2:11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

My sister and I had funny experiences while growing up. Our parent made it mandatory for us to observe most of the fastings declared in church. When we are hungry, we'll taste oil or sip a little water then we'll meet with dad to report ourselves so that we will break our fast. It was our method of stylishly breaking our fast so that we can be free to eat.

The Greek word for fasting means to abstain from food. You see, fasting always involve food right from time, charismatics just decided to add other things to it and make it more complex. Our major problem as believers when it comes to fasting is that we do not define our fast and decide on modus operandi. The first and most important thing is to define the type of fast and the duration of fast. If you do these, you'll know what to sacrifice for your fasting to be effective. For example, if I'm fasting from food only, it wouldn't be a sin for me to sip a little water if I'm thirsty because that's how I designed my fast except I have decided to fast away both.

Dan 10:3 made it clear that Daniel ATE NO CHOICE MEAL which means he did ate something but not something pleasant. He decided that through out his fasting for 3 weeks, he would only eat vegetables and drink water. That may blow your religious mind-up but that's what is in the bible. Don't enter a fast without drawing up the details of the fast including the duration. That's the key to effective fasting.

Action point

I activate spiritual common sense in me for effective fasting In Jesus name. Amen
