Proverbs4:4 My father taught me,
“Take my words to heart. Follow my commands, and you will live. NLT
While growing up, my dad was a regular teacher in our family altar, after several years of teaching then I started teaching as well and today we sometimes share the altar to preach. The idea of fatherhood most men have is that of a man that goes to work and comes back with money. That mentality is the reason why most men work round the clock and do not care about the spiritual health of their family especially children.
Solomon's father taught him to take his words to heart and follow his commands. As a father, what are you teaching your children? You have to start teaching your children to know Christ, serve Him, discover purpose, respect God and men, about money and time management and other important lessons in life. Your children should find answers to their life's issues in your daily teachings. They should long to spend their vacations with you.
Don't be an absentee father, be there to teach by example and in words. A man that is not grounded in God's word coupled with a rich fellowship with God cannot be a father-teacher. Let your children see you model what you desire them to do; women are not made to play a man's role no matter how anointed they are. When fatherly teaching is absent in a child's life, the deficiencies would surface later. Be a teaching father.
Father, I receive grace to be a teaching father and we pray that men around the world would teach their children the way of the Lord in Jesus name.
