1kings13:17 For the LORD gave me this command: ‘You must not eat or drink anything while you are there, and do not return to Judah by the same way you came.’”(18)But the old prophet answered,...And an angel gave me this command from the LORD: ‘Bring him home with you so he can have something to eat and drink.’” But the old man was lying to him. NLT
There was a young prophet that God sent on errand to deliver a message to the king. God gave him specific instructions not to eat nor to return the way he came. An old prophet told him to eat and drink, he claimed to have heard from an angel but he was lying to him. Instead of the young prophet to keep the conviction of the instruction he had initially, he discarded it and was killed by a Lion on the way. It the old prophet that mocked him for disobedience.
When believers do not believe that God can speak to them without consulting a prophet, they may suffer the same fate as that of the young prophet. When we receive an instruction from God but delay in obeying it or discard it because someone we regard as a higher spiritual authority has a different opinion, we may walk out of God's purpose for our lives.
There are lot of old prophet around that wants to give people direction for their lives as against what God has said.
What has God told you to do? Where has he sent you to? Avoid sharing your convictions with men that cannot see what you are seeing nor hear what you are hearing. They may misled you and laugh at your suffering later. Do not be deceived by 'thus saith the Lord'. Whatever anyone tells you in God's name that doesn't align with what God has told you, please discard it.
Father, I receive grace to stay on my convictions about the instructions you gave me In Jesus name. Amen
