Heb8:7 If the first covenant(testament) had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it.(
But when God found fault with the people, he said:“The day is coming, says the LORD,when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. Emphasis mine NLT
Some still wonder why there was an old testament and a new one under the same God. I don't think there is anyone that would want to use an old device that is not en vogue when the latest model is cheaper and can deliver better services without much stress. The old covenant or old testament was faulty so God had to make a new covenant. That new covenant was fulfilled in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
The old covenant had a lot of regulations and rules that couldn't make any man righteous. Under the new covenant, we are justfied by God's grace as if we haven't sinned and we are declared righteous. The righteousness of the law is like a filthy rag because it is a righteousness attained through works not by grace. The righteousness under the new covenant is a gift from God, Christ paid for it. Your works can't earn it neither can you receive it through fasting and prayer.
The ministry of Moses was regarded as ministry of death, but the ministry of Christ gives life because it is in tandem with God's new covenant. We don't need to sacrifice anything for our sins anymore because Christ paid it all. We are not bound by the over 600 Mosaic laws any longer because God himself found fault with them but he gave us the ultimate law of love. As we look unto Christ, we become more like him in love and compassion.
Father, thank you for the provisions of grace through Christ, I walk in love just like Christ did In Jesus name.
