1John2:1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. NLT
Let us imagine a court room; the person that initiates a case is the plaintiff with his prosecuting counsel and the person being accused is the defendant with the support of his defendant counsel. The devil is the plaintiff and he has mastered taking the case file of our errors to God but praise be to God, we have a very strong defence counsel- Christ.
The devil is a master accuser, he keeps every record of our wrongs and he goes to God telling him why he shouldn't bless us or answer our prayers. In redemption, a provision has been made for your short-comings, there is no need to feel condemned or stay condemned anymore because the best attorney in the world is on your side. In the court of God- the judge of the world, Christ cannot lose a case. He won on the cross and paid the debt of your sins once and for all.
Apostle John wasn't encouraging sinful and wreckless lifestyle because he didn't say 'when' anyone does sin but he said 'If' anyone does sin which means it is not a compulsory action expected of a believer but there are times we miss it and feel very condemned in our heart, at that moment when we realize our wrongs and go back to God in repentance, Christ stands for us in God's court against the accuser. That's a wonderful privilege of God's grace, take advantage of it today then go and sin no more.
