Proverbs20:5 Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out. NLT
A young man was introduced to me sometimes ago. I was told that he was a young convert that needed counsel so I took him on. Anytime we got talking, he won't allow me talk, he'll hijack the conversation and he'll do all the speaking. If I manage to chip in my ideas, he'll counter it without considering my ideas. I distanced myself from him.
When you meet someone for counsel, especially a man of God, allow him to talk and be in tune with the Spirit of God so that you can discern what you need from his counsel. Don't be too forward when seeing a counsellor, let him talk.
We'll always need counsel from those that are ahead of us no matter how spiritual we are. A man of understanding would be patient to hear first before talking. Attach your life to men with well of wisdom that you can draw out counsel from; learn to ask Spirit-inspired questions and be open-hearted to receive.
Father, I receive grace to draw out wise counsel In Jesus name.
