FREE SLAVES

1Pet2:16 For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. NLT

When you read the bible, the saints of God have so many name tags: elect, saints, sons, brethren and so many others. One of them that some believers do not like to hear is that we are slaves of God, yes we are. Slavery in this sense doesn't mean bondage or the kind of slavery that Africans were subjected to in colonial times.

The kind of slavery is simply talking about being under the subjection of a master. Sincerely, we are under a grand master who created the universe. He gave us his word to guide us, those that have come to know him as their Lord don't argue with him, they simply accept his authority over their lives. They engage him in their decision-making and his word is final.

That's the kind of slavery Apostle Peter meant in that verse. If we haven't gotten to that place in our lives where we can easily say 'yes' to the masters will without arguing, we aren't slaves yet. Our slavery is not for bondage but freedom within the ambit of God's will, that freedom is not an excuse to do evil but his will.
