We live in a world of women liberation campaign. I keep asking myself, who is the person that put women in bondage? I noticed that there is a systematic rebellion against the word of God worldwide. I agree with the fact that culture and dogma in certain countries has not been fair to women. A culture that looks down on women as mere object of sexual satisfaction is devilish.
I believe there should be strong laws against wife battery and laws of inheritance also has to be revisited in some cultures; when women lead campaign of equality with their husbands in marriage, that's totally unscriptural. In marriage, men and women are not equal but outside marriage, we are equal. I am not superior to another woman that isn't my wife. The scripture limited the issue of submission to wives not women. God foresaw that a time like this would come so he instructed wives to be submissive.
Submission to your husband is not negotiable neither should you submit with a clause. Some are trying to re write the bible by saying that submission is conditional. The scriptures didn't say so; submission isn't weakness, it is role God has given wives to fulfil. For women with unbelieving husbands, submission is a form of evangelism that can attract such men to Christ.
When it is convenient and when it is not, wives submit to your husbands.
