Proverbs23:13 Don’t fail to discipline your children. They won’t die if you spank them. 14 Physical discipline may well save them from death. NLT
When I was growing up as a young lad under parents, my mum was always quick to use the rod. After giving me some strokes of the cane, she'll tell me to prostrate and say 'thank you', that was the most painful aspect of the whole thing. Thereafter, she'll sit me down with God's word and tell me that what she did was scriptural and show me where i was wrong.
I am a huge fan of certain aspect of our culture in Africa especially the aspect of discipline and training children. When you place the Jewish culture and African culture side by side, there are certain similarities that exist. I have seen some believers trying to reject what has been written in the scriptures about disciplining children. Spanking a child isn't obsolete, it is a trans generational kingdom principle for correcting an erring child.
The rate of teenage delinquency is on the rise in our society and it may be late to change teenagers because habits and attitudes are formed before a child enters the teenage phase. It is very scriptural to correct an erring child with the rod moderately, he/she won't die. There is nothing wrong in that and it is still en vogue because the word supports it.
Take the training of your children serious right from infanthood, that's the best time to help them form good habits and character.
Father, I receive grace to lead my Children on the right path In Jesus name. Amen
