Ahab wanted to fight against the Arameans, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah was his guest at the time he was preparing for war; King Jehoshaphat prompted Ahab to enquire from God through the prophets if it was God's will to battle the Arameans. All the prophets around Ahab told him to do battle with Arameans because they were operating under the spirit of lies.
Also, Ahab's desire was to fight so he surrounded himself with prophets that would tell him what he wanted to hear. He went to that war, got wounded and died that same day. There are men that chose to surround themselves with preachers that would tell them what they want to hear, something that agrees with their way of life and ideology, not the word.
Our human nature is always looking for validation even when our intentions and actions are against God's will. Some are just looking a preacher that will give them a go ahead. Don't be like Ahab; there are lying preachers and prophets in town that preach and prophesy because of their pocket. Their words are sweet to the ears but following their counsel leads to eternal damnation.
