THE POWER OF WISE COUNSEL

August 16, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs20:18 Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without wise advice. NLT

A man made a lot of money from his job, he didn't know what to do with the money. He decided to ask his Pastor what he should do with it, his Pastor told him to buy a land and build, he was considering buying a vehicle but he heeded to his Pastor's advice. Later, the man lost his job things became hard for him but house rent isn't an issue because he lives in his own house.

If he didn't build at the time when things were good for him, the headache of paying rent may compound his problem in his state of joblessness. Before you take major steps, ask for wise counsel from those that are ahead of you or those that know better than you do. No man can exist in Isolation from the counsel of others. Recently, I spoke with a colleague in the ministry and I got a balanced counsel on an issue bothering me.

Wise counsel gives a platform upon which success can be achieved. In the old testament, anointed kings like David had counsellors and one of them was Aitophel, we were told that his counsel was like that of a man speaking the mind of God. Before you marry, resign from your office, relocate, start a business. Or even go into ministry, prayerfully meet with anointed counsellors.

Action point

Father, I open my heart to wise counsel and I reject destructive counsel In Jesus name. Amen
