WHEN TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

August 19, 2016 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs10:19 Too much talk leads to sin.

Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.NLT

From my personal experience, when I talk too much, I exaggerate on some things. Sometimes, it is either I don't deliver my message accurately or I add to it. I later discovered that it was creeping into my preaching as well, so when I want to preach, I prepare my illustrations or stories ahead to ensure I say the truth just as it is. I try not to tell a story or give an illustration that comes at the spur of the moment except I can deliver accurately.

If you're given to too much of talking, a little sin would be found in your words. God is not saying we shouldn't talk but it is not every time we're to talk. Stop trying to impress people with your too many words especially when in conversation amongst friends. I discovered that most of our exaggerations comes when gisting with friends and colleagues. You need to learn how to be silent in certain situations.

Sometimes, you need to reserve both physical and spiritual energy by keeping your mouth shut. After praying and fasting, don't let your mouth be an outlet through which power would leak out. Put a restraining order on your lips and remain courteous.

Action point

Father, I receive grace to be sensible in the use of my mouth In Jesus name. Amen
