2Tim1:9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. NLT
According to the Pauline revelation, we have been chosen to be holy through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross, Eph1:4. Salvation has configured us to live like God because we have his seed in us. Sometimes, some believers get confused on why we are enjoined to live holy in the New testament when Paul already told us that it is our calling by grace, they see it as contradictory.
If I give you $1,000 as your pocket money and I even give you access to my ATM to withdraw the millions in my account at will, potentially you cannot be broke. I can as well call you a millionaire because of the grace that you've enjoyed from me but if you refuse to withdraw money or do not take action by withdrawing from my account, you'll remain broke. You need to act on the privileges available to you before you can have cash.
Even though we've been made holy through the finished work of Christ, if we do not live out that life of holiness that is in us, we cannot be pleasing unto God. Holy living is an action and not a passive phenomenon deposited in us. New age teaching makes people feel they are holy without a corresponding action that is godly. Now that you are in Christ, living holy should be a life style because His grace has enabled you to do so.
Father, I walk in your grace to live a life pleasing to you In Jesus name. Amen
