Judges5:23 ‘Let the people of Meroz be cursed,’ said the angel of the LORD.
‘Let them be utterly cursed,
because they did not come to help the LORD— to help the LORD against the mighty warriors.’ NLT
The first time I came across the scripture above, it surprised me that God needed the help or mere mortals. Later, I concluded that God didn't need the help of any man because He is the almighty. Also, God cannot be supported, trying to support God is tantamount to making him look like weakling which He is not. When reading the bible, you must keep in mind that the English rendition of some verses was not properly translated. So what is Judges 5:23 saying?
The people of God fought a war with Sisera, Deborah sang a song in that chapter and she was the one that made the statement. What she was trying to say was that Meroz is cursed because Meroz didn't participate in the holy war. The program of God for that hour was for the people of God to fight and conquer the heathen. God has a program for the hour and he want his Children to participate.
When you don't participate in the program of God for the hour, God is not happy. The program of God for this hour is to reach the lost, win them for Christ and disciple them. God would not preach, angels won't preach neither will the 24 elders do that. If people could be saved supernaturally, all the unsaved would have been saved by now and we wouldn't need evangelists and missionaries anymore.
Don't be like Meroz, participate in God's program for the hour.
Father, I receive grace to participate in your program for this very hour In Jesus name.
