1Sam30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
At a time in bible history, David's camp was raided. Those that invaded his domain took his wives and those of his allies away. He returned home to meet his abode in shambles. His men wanted to stone him and he was all alone with no one to encourage him. He knew that the only way forward was to get some courage to pursue and recover.
He encouraged himself in the Lord his God. David didn't encourage himself in his military might&prowess but he sought for encouragement in God. There are several ways of getting encouraged in God. The principal way is via his word. The word of God is a spirit booster for anyone that is discouraged about life.
Another key to encouragement is testimonies. When you think about previous wonders&miracles that God has done in your life and in the life of others, your spirit would be lifted. Don't wait for people to encourage you in your down moments, do it yourself. The devil would want to throw darts of discouragement at you but stop him with God's word&viable testimonies.
Discouragement is of the devil, don't allow him.
CONFESSION: Father, I rebuke the spirit of discouragement in my life In Jesus name. I press forward into great things that God has for me by the power of the Spirit.
