1Sam7:17 And his return was to Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the Lord.
Prophet Samuel was a national prophet in Israel in his own day. He grew up in the house of Eli and right from childhood, he had a sound relationship with God. He was covenanted to God because the mother asked for him from the Lord after several years of waiting. He was a true prophet indeed because the bible recorded that none of his words fell to the ground.
The secret of Samuel was that he had an altar in Ramah. An altar in the old testament is a place where sacrifices are offered, it is the place of fellowship&communion with God. Priests don't play with their personal altars. In the new testament, the altar is no more a physical place as some still think especially in our churches. The raised platform on which the preacher stands in just for proper focus.
Your personal altar refers to your consistent fellowship with God from a heart that is willing to seek God genuinely. Stop seeking for a special prayer mountain or altar to go kneel before you pray. Some think that God won't hear them until they kneel before a special altar. Let your room, office, car&your heart be an altar made ready to commune with your father.
The diamond secret of great men in the kingdom is a virile altar of fellowship with the father.
Father, I receive the grace to stay in the place of genuine fellowship with you In Jesus Name. Amen
