A CHANGE IN PRIESTHOOD

May 11, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Heb7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? KJV

In the old testament, we had the Levites as God's chosen priests for the people. That lineage had no other duty than to do temple duties and offer sacrifices for the sins of the people. The Levitical priesthood was not without the law, it was a priesthood that has a lot of rituals and ordinances that are burdensome.

When some people are claiming that we are to obey the law, then I refer them to the book of Leviticus for them to be sure if they can obey all that is written therein. God saw that the laws were weak and it revealed the imperfections of his people, so he decided to change the priesthood. If a change in priesthood must occur, there must also be a change in the law.

Praise God! Christ is our new high priest and what the law couldn't achieve, through Christ we now have it. He is the ultimate sacrifice and no other sacrifice would be accepted by God. Christ gave us unlimited access to the father and we can call God our father. We are under grace and the price for our salvation has been paid for on the cross. Glory!

CONFESSION: Father, thank you for sending Christ to me. I now have a new high priest and I walk in the new order of grace In Jesus name. Amen
