1Sam8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations...(7)..And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
The children of Israel protested against Samuel. They demanded for a king like the heathen and rejected God as their king. God was the leader of Israel, he ruled them through his representative- the prophet. Samuel was the national prophet but because they wanted their own kind of government, they demanded for a king.
The will of God for Israel was for him to be their king. After pestering Samuel, God told Samuel to grant their request even though it wasn't his perfect will for their lives. Their demands had consequences which God listed out to them but they accepted them. Do you know that God can grant a request that isn't according to his will? Yes, he did for the Israelites.
Don't box God. There are some of us that have a perception of God's will for our lives but because we live in carnal fantasies, we chose to look away from God's perfect will. Factually, every time you demand your will&box God, you take your life ten steps backward. You need to know that the best thing that can happen to you is to be right at the centre of God's will for your life.
Always pray with an open heart, don't impose on your maker. He knows what is good for your life.
Father, I receive grace to accept your perfect will for my life In Jesus Name. Amen
