THE 'ONCE UPON A TIME BROTHER'.

July 20, 2015 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Job29:4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

In my final year as an undergraduate, I was praying and asking God to reveal what his plans were for me after school. I did a prayer walk from my hostel to my fellowship venue. I climbed the gallery and was praying in the midnight. After a while, a young man stopped my prayers and told me what he said an angel had told him about my requests.

The angelic message didn't move me as such but I noticed that he was a backslidder. He was saying things like 'when I was on fire for God' and other statements that showed that he had a solid walk with God in the past. From the scriptures above, Job had the secret of God upon his tabernacle as a youth but he didn't tell us if he still had those secrets as an old man.

I don't want to be a story telling christian at my old age. I don't want to tell people 'I was a preacher'. Consistency in daily walk with God makes all the difference. People miss it in their walk with God at the point of 'it doesn't matter' and from there, they dwell in past glory and miss out on God. We are not of them that draw back, our aim should be to finish strong.

Action point

Father, I would not be a 'Once upon a time' christian In Jesus name. Amen.
