Esther2:17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
Queen Vashti was told to come show her beauty before the nobles of the land. She was puffed with pride and she declined. The king felt insulted and a declaration was made to search for another damsel that will replace her. Queen Esther (a jewish slave) was chosen and she served the kings's purpose. When free born don't rise up, God can equip slaves to take charge.
God is our king and he wants to use our lives for a display of his glory. Sometimes, the call of God may have to withdraw us from our personal ambitions but obedience to that call is better. It is fatal to be replaced in God's agenda. If you fail to yield to God's purpose for your life, that assignment or purpose would be done but through another person.
Vashti didn't think that she'll loose her place. Pride remains a major set-back in the pursuit of God's plan and purpose for our lives. Imagine God telling you to leave that oil&gas job, banking job or practice of medicine and proceed to the mission field in a land without mobile communication network on full time! So many have heard that call, but pride of heart deterred them from obeying.
If you are too proud to serve God&obey his call, you are too cheap for the devil. There's nothing you have achieved that some people haven't laid down at the feet of the master just for the excellency of his glory to be revealed in and through them.
Are there pending instructions I'm yet to obey?
