Gal5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: AGAINST SUCH THERE IS NO LAW.
The Galatians wanted to mix the law and grace together. They wanted to attain righteousness by practising the law which is against the teachings of grace. The law of Moses has a lot of external observance and rituals, the do's and donts were intended to make them acceptable before God.
When Christ came, the game changed. He commanded that we should love God and love our neighbours. Apostle Paul explained further by giving the church what we know as fruit of the spirit. The fruit of the spirit is the reflection of Christ-likeness. To be like Christ, your life need to exemplify the fruit of the spirit. Some are trying to attain righteousness through laws.
If you want to make heaven, living out the fruit of the spirit is the visa while salvation is the passport. Paul said 'against such there is no law'. Which means that any other law,ritual or observance cannot take the place of the fruit of the spirit because it is the main thing. No law is above it. I am urging you this morning, leave religious practices and follow Christ. That is where we can find eternal rest.
Father, I receive grace to grow in the fruit of the spirit and for my life to be an example of a Christ-like life In Jesus name. Amen
