2Chron17:33-And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
In the annals of history, David became a standard for comparison amongst the kings that ruled in Israel. He walked with God and God expected all other kings to follow in the footsteps of David. Some kings disobeyed God outrightly by going a whoring after other gods but Jehoshaphat was different, yet they said he walked with God like David. Maybe he would have done better but he didn't break that limit set by David.
David became a standard for contrast and comparison. As a believer, God wants you to become a father figure spiritually. He wants to also make reference to your life and even tell people to see Jesus at work in your life. We all need kingdom models, and it is pertinent that before we can be a model, God wants us to come under the discipleship of his son through a model.
If you don't have a spiritual father you are submitted to, you need to prayerfully get one. God didn't create us as equals but he placed some men ahead of us so that we can imitate them as they follow Christ. In the home, God's desire is that our children walk in his ways as we model it to them. Let your walk with God be such that heaven and earth can always refer to.
Father, I receive grace to walk with you as required and demanded of me so that I can be a kingdom reference point In Jesus name. Amen
