Rom14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
The word edify is akin to the word 'charge' or 'build' when translated from the Greek. I have a big sister, whenever she comes around visiting, she loves talking to me and I also do. She said whenever we talk, she feels something bubbling on the inside of her spiritually. She's talking about being edified.
When some believers meet, they gossip about people and say things that doesn't edify. Edification has to do with being lifted in the spirit and being built-up in the things of God. Edification isn't only meant for preaching sessions on sundays but whenever we meet, we must do or say something to ourselves that will edify us and make us better.
Make it a point of duty to say something edifying whenever you meet a believer. Stop discussing about movies, when next you visit your friend, ask for edifying books, tapes and CD's. Years back, while discussing with a brother, I thought I had read much and listened to a lot of messages. When he opened his laptop, I saw e-books of Kenneth Hagin and messages worth 107GB. Immediately, I got them from him.
That is what you'll get in a meeting that edifies. You'll always leave better or leave with something that'll make you better. Seek to edify and be edified.
Father, I receive grace to seek edification and to edify others In Jesus name.
