Jude1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
When the scripture talks about 'the faith', it is referring to the strength and tenacity of belief and devotion unto the Lord. The faith in this context isn't talking the receiving faith that we use to claim blessings. It is the core of our unwavering devotion unto the Lord when we received Christ. You'll agree with me that the fire of a new convert is always fresh and the passion is contagious.
So many things have changed due to modernisation. The essence of the faith is being eroded by the day and the writer of the book of Jude saw this ahead and he enjoined that we should contend, fight, defend and uphold the faith. We are not to defend it with arms, but he's just trying to say that we must take our stand in this perverse generation.
Anytime you water-down the truth of the gospel either in your preaching or action, you aren't contending for the faith. To contend properly, you must stand for the truth as revealed in God's word and be unwavering about it. The devil creeps in little by little and the things that matters before doesn't matter again. It is dangerous when believers lose their grip of the truth they once held so dear.
I receive grace to contend for the truth In Jesus name. Amen
