DO NOT MOCK THE MIRACULOUS

August 11, 2026 · Lanre Oyeleke · 11 views

Luke 1:37 *For with God nothing will be impossible*

Recently, I heard the story of a woman who attended a miracle service. During the service, the preacher announced that those trusting God for the fruit of the womb should come out and wear his suit.

This woman who had stopped giving birth due to previous medical issues/ complications stepped out to make fun of the preacher thinking it was one of those things some preachers not knowing the power of God had rested on that clothing material.

She wore it and returned home making mockery of the preacher. Not long after, she got pregnant. She thought she couldn't get pregnant again probably because she had so much confidence in the type of family planning they did for her after five surgeries.

It dawned on her that the suit she wore out of contempt for the miraculous contributed to her pregnancy.

As a disciple of Christ, do not treat the miraculous with contempt or mockery. I have learnt two things about making mockery of the miraculous. The first is that you may never experience it especially when you need it.

Mockery for the miraculous will block you from experiencing the power of God. Those that mock miracles may end up needing one. I heard about a man who was instrumental to stopping the broadcast of miracles in a particular country. Later, he became paralysed. Don't mock the hand of God.

Second, If you make a mockery of miracles, God may choose to prove Himself to you in a way that will silence your foolishness. That is, God will turn your wisdom to folly. What should be a source of joy may become your undoing.

A good example can be found in 2 Kings 7:2 when the King's personal assistant said: *"...“That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!*” But Elisha replied him saying, *“You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!*".

It happened exactly as the prophet of God said. The miraculous often comes with that aura of "beyond human reasoning". That is why it is called the miraculous. Do not mock it. Those who mock the miraculous might need it someday and may not get it because of the posture of their hearts.

Stop bothering yourself about those who fake it or the magicians we see around us today. Your focus should be on God, the one who makes the impossible possible.

Father, I recognize you still perform miracles, let me experience it today in Jesus name.
