PRESERVING THE PROPHETIC FLOW

August 14, 2026 · Lanre Oyeleke · 4 views

2 Kings 3:15 *But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him*.

I watched a Gospel movie years back. The pastor in that movie kept malice with his wife to the extent that he began to sleep in church office. While in that office, he was still seeing visions and operating in the prophetic but not by God.

He did not know his prophetic channel had been corrupted by some demonic agents in his church who manipulated his spiritual sights because of the malice he kept with his wife. All the while, he thought God was the one revealing those things whereas it was Satan.

If you operate in the prophetic or God shows you things occasionally either through dreams, trance, and visions, you need to learn how to keep the channel open for continuous flow of revelation from the Spirit of God.

Oftentimes, I have heard some preach or teach about why Elisha requested for the services of a minstrel before connecting to the prophetic. Some have taken that to mean anointed music must precede "thus saith the Lord". That is not an absolute truth.

While I agree that anointed music can play a vital role in stirring the spirit to connect with the Holy Spirit, yet, it is not a formula. The reason Elisha requested the services of a minstrel was because at that moment, he was angry with the king of Israel because of his idolatry.

Somehow, he wasn't calm internally to hear God. There was anger, resentment and bitterness in him so he was shut out of the prophetic at that moment. So, to reconnect, he needed a calm and receptive spirit that was tender and sensitive. There is a lesson there for us especially those that are gifted in the prophetic.

*The moment you allow anger, bitterness or resentment in your heart, the flow of revelation will cease until your heart is right. If it doesn't cease, your prophetic channel may come under demonic manipulation.*

*The prophetic is tender, that is, it is not something that harbours little sins like anger, malice, bitterness, anxiety and resentment. As little as anxiety may seem, it can block the flow of revelation. Some look towards "big" sins like sexual immorality as the culprit that prevents the flow of prophetic but "little" sins are capable of doing the same.*

I use to know a woman who operated accurately in the gift of predictive prophecy. After a while, it ceased. When she was asked what happened, she said she was disturbed about the happenings in the lives of her children. Internally, she was not settled and calm.

When Satan wants to block you from seeing and hearing from God, he attacks you with things that will make you angry or disturbed internally. Beware.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to preserve the prophetic flow in my life in Jesus name.
