SHARE THE BREAD WITH THE HUNGRY

Mark 16:15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.

There was a chief baker who owned one of the biggest bakeries in town. He baked the best bread and commissioned his staff to share bread with the hungry in town. Everyone knew the man's bakery doesn't wait for customers to come. Rather, they bake and share with the hungry.

One of his staff was given a bakery to run in another part of town using the pattern of the chief baker. This staff collected baked bread from the chief baker but he did not share with the hungry in the axis of town where he was. He baked some too but kept them in the bakery. He kept decorating his bakery with bread until they decayed while the people died of hunger.

In this story, God is the chief baker, we are his staff. He has commissioned us to go into the world and preach the Gospel. The Gospel of Christ is the bread we have been commissioned to share with the lost and dying. We should not wait for them to come, we are to go and share with them.

A mission research says over 70,000 people die daily without hearing about Christ. We have many around us who have no hope of eternity with Christ. They are plenty around us. God has not called to sit and enjoy the comfort of our churches while souls are dying. The call is to go and keep going until we find the lost, win them and disciple them.

*Why sit comfortably in the church (bakery) as though nothing is happening outside? The true church of Christ is a sending church not a sitting church. We  judge the success of a new testament church by her sending capacity not her seating capacity. If the seating capacity is 10,000, her potential sending capacity to the field of souls is 10,000. If this is not achieved, we cannot adjudge her a success*.

All members should be preachers of the Gospel sent everywhere to spread the Good news. Pastors should endeavour to train their members to preach the simple Gospel that saves. In fact, evangelism still remains the most reliable way to grow a church not programmes or concert meetings. Growth that is not borne through the organic way of evangelism may not last in the long run.

*If you are a pastor reading this, your church is meant to be a recruitment centre for soul winners not a gathering of people who want to enjoy cool music and ambience. A church that is not hunting for the lost is a dead church. The bread they should share will decay until the whole place is filled with odour*.

The Great Commission task is not for evangelists only. It is an assignment for all believers. Giving money to missionaries is not enough, you are meant to preach the gospel as well, at least, to those around you. As you support the missionary to reach the unreached in far places where you may not be able to reach, preach to sinners within your reach.

Don't be too comfortable with sinners dying around you. God is recruiting staff into his bakery to share bread. Please, do share bread to the hungry.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to share the Gospel everywhere in Jesus name.
