*Isaiah 55:11 - _"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."*_
Many believers get troubled when we insist that only the Word of God truly changes a man. When we emphasize continuous exposure to God's Word as God's primary tool for transformation, some ask, "But how? I don't see anything happening to me." That is the mystery of the Word.
Let me ask you: When you take your drugs, vitamins and supplements, do you see how they work inside your body? Do you see how the paracetamol locates the headache? Of course not. You cannot see the chemical reaction in your bloodstream, but you keep taking it as prescribed because you trust that it is working. And truly, as you persist, the symptoms disappear. That is exactly how the Word of God works.
The Word is not a motivational quote you read once and become transformed. It is spiritual medication, spiritual food, and spiritual seed, and all three work INVISIBLY before they show VISIBLE results.
*1. THE WORD WORKS LIKE A SEED — INVISIBLY FIRST*
When a farmer plants maize, he does not see anything for days. But beneath the soil, the seed is breaking, rooting, and sprouting.
> _"So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how."_ - *Mark 4:26-27*
> _"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."_ - *1 Peter 2:2*
You may not feel different after reading one chapter, but that Word has entered your spirit. It is rooting. It is breaking old thought patterns you cannot see. Don't stop planting because you are not yet seeing the harvest.
*2. THE WORD WORKS LIKE MEDICINE — GRADUALLY BUT SURELY*
> _"My son, attend to my words... For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."_ - *Proverbs 4:20,22*
> _"He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."_ - *Psalm 107:20*
No doctor gives you one dose of drug and expects instant total healing for a chronic illness. You must take the dosage consistently. Many Christians take the Word like an emergency drug — only when there is a crisis. No, it must be a daily diet.
That anger you are fighting? That lust? That fear? Keep taking the Word. You have to keep studying it, praying with it, confessing it, and hearing it. The believer who is far from the Bible and its teaching is far from transformation.
> _"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..."_ - *Romans 12:2*
Renewing is not a one-day event. It is a continuous process.
*3. THE WORD WORKS LIKE A MIRROR AND A HAMMER*
> _"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword..."_ - *Hebrews 4:12*
> _"Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?"_ - *Jeremiah 23:29*
Sometimes you read the Word and you feel condemned or broken — that is the hammer breaking the stony places in your heart. Sometimes you read and you see your true self — that is the mirror. It may be painful, but it is working. It is chipping away at pride, selfishness, and carnality you have carried for years.
Don't run from that process.
If you are a Pastor, teacher, or leader, do not be discouraged that your teachings are not producing immediate results. Preaching and teaching the Word is like administering treatment to patients. Some will respond quickly. Others will take time because their case has been long. But as long as the true Word is being given, it MUST produce.
> _"And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance..."_ - *Acts 20:32*
> _"So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed."_ - *Acts 19:20*
Your job is not to produce the result. Your job is to keep sowing faithfully. The Word itself carries power to grow and to prevail. In due season, it will show.
> _"Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth."_ - *Colossians 1:6*
> _"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."_ - *2 Corinthians 3:18*
One day, you will look back and realize you are no longer the man you used to be. And you will know — it was the Word that did it.
Father, give me grace to stay with Your Word even when I don't see results. Let Your Word work in me, root in me, heal me and transform me completely in Jesus name. Amen.
