Mark 8:36 _"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"_
Recently, I listened to a radio presenter. While on air, he was joking. He said hell will be an interesting place and that he would love to be there.
His reason? He said there will be plenty of groove in hell. According to him, most musicians will be there, so there will be shows every day. Drinks will also be plenty. His co-presenter laughed and added that most politicians will be there too.
They were joking, but that joke reveals what is in their hearts. The Bible says, _"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."_ *- Matthew 12:34*
What if the musicians and politicians he thinks will be in hell eventually make heaven, and he who is joking ends up in hell himself? The Bible warns us that many who we think will be last will be first, and the first will be last. *- Matthew 19:30*
There are things you must never joke about. Your soul is one of them. Hell is another. Many people joke about what they do not understand, and many will only understand when it is too late. I wish he knew how terrible hell is. If he knew, he would never joke about it.
Many people use the word "hell" lightly. They use it to describe hard times or serious suffering. But I can boldly tell you this: in the entire history of mankind, no suffering can be compared to hell.
Why? Because hell is not man-made. Hell was prepared by God Himself for the devil and his angels, and for all who reject Christ. *- Matthew 25:41*
No pain on earth can stand side by side with the pain of hell. On earth, suffering has an end. In hell, suffering has no end.
If God opens your eyes to see hell for just one second, you will never wish even your worst enemy to go there. In Luke chapter 16, the rich man who went to hell begged for just one drop of water. Just one drop. He could not get it. *- Luke 16:23-24*
Hell is not a beer parlour. Hell is not a concert ground. Hell is not a place of groove. Hell is a place of unquenchable fire. *- Mark 9:43-44*
Hell is a place of outer darkness, weeping and gnashing of teeth. *- Matthew 25:30*. Hell is a place of endless torment, day and night forever and ever. *- Revelation 20:10*
And the most terrible part of hell is that there is no exit. Once you enter, you can never come out. There is a great gulf fixed. No second chance. *- Luke 16:26* The Bible also says it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. *- Hebrews 9:27*
That is why this matter must not be joked about. It is a serious matter with eternal consequences. To joke about hell is to joke about your own soul.
So I have two words for you today:
*1. To the sinner:* Come to Jesus now and escape hell. Jesus died so you will not have to go there. *- John 3:16* Don't wait till tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation. *- 2 Corinthians 6:2*
*2. To the saved:* Abide in Christ and secure your place in heaven. Don't play with your salvation. *- Matthew 24:13*
Heaven is real. Hell is also real. One of them will be your final home. Choose wisely today.
