"But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." — 1 Corinthians 15:10_
THE DIMENSIONS OF GRACE - SERVING / EMPOWERING GRACE*(c)
Imagine two cars that look identical. The first car has no engine, only a strong man behind it pushing it. He sweats, he pants, he pushes a few meters and gets tired. That is a Christian trying to serve God by human effort, willpower, and law.
The second car is electric — fully charged. The owner only needs to sit and steer; the battery does the work. The car moves faster, farther, and quietly. That battery inside is Empowering Grace.
God did not ask you to push your Christian life. He put His own power source inside you. Your job is to remain connected and yielded; His job is to supply the power that makes you will and do. Stop pushing. Start plugging into Grace.
> _"...for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." — Philippians 2:13_
We have seen Saving Grace that *forgives us*, and Sustaining Grace that *keeps us*. Today we see the third dimension. Serving or Empowering Grace is the grace that *equips us* to live right and to serve God acceptably.
*If Saving Grace brings you into the family, and Sustaining Grace keeps you standing in the family, then Serving Grace makes you useful in the family*.
Many believers stop at dimension one and two — "God has forgiven me, God is keeping me." But God did not save you and keep you just to sit down; He saved you to serve. And He knows you cannot serve in your own strength, so He gives you another supply of grace.
*1. It Makes You What You Ought to Be:*
Paul said, "By the grace of God I am what I am." Without this grace, Paul would have remained Saul, zealous but destructive. Grace did not just forgive Saul; it remade him into Paul. Grace changes identity and gives you capacity to become.
*2. It Makes You Do What You Ought to Do:*
"For it is God which worketh in you both to WILL and to DO." Grace works twice: first it creates the _desire_ to do right, then it supplies the _power_ to do it. Law says "Do!" and leaves you helpless. Grace comes inside you and says "Let us do it together."
That is why a man under law struggles to pray, struggles to forgive, struggles to give. But a man under Empowering Grace finds a new willingness inside him.
*3. It Makes Your Labour Effective:*
Notice Paul's words: "I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." Paul worked hard, but he knew the energy was not his. Empowering Grace does not make you lazy; it makes you tirelessly productive without burnout, because it is divine energy at work in you.
Saving Grace says, "You are forgiven, so rest."
Sustaining Grace says, "You are held, so stand."
Empowering Grace says, "You are equipped, so serve."
Without Empowering Grace, service becomes struggle, ministry becomes misery, and Christian living becomes a heavy burden. But when this grace comes, what was difficult becomes delightful.
Ask yourself: am I serving God by mere activity of the flesh, or am I allowing His grace to work in me?
Father, thank You for not just saving and keeping me, but for equipping me. Today, I receive fresh Empowering Grace. Work in me both to will and to do Your good pleasure. Let Your grace in me not be in vain, in Jesus’ name. Amen._
