"...even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life..."_ — _Romans 5:21_
*HOW TO WALK IN GRACE - LET IT REIGN IN YOUR LIFE (c)*
Previously, we learned that grace is a realm to grow in. Today, Paul takes us further:
*Grace is a King to reign in you.*
Look at the language of Romans 5. Paul does not say grace visits. He does not say grace helps. He says grace *reigns* — _basileuo_ — the same word used for a king sitting on a throne, ruling, commanding, enforcing his will.
Before you were saved, another king reigned.
> _"For sin reigned in death..."_ — _Romans 5:21a_
Sin was not just a mistake you made. Sin was a government. It ruled your desires. It ruled your habits. It ruled your decisions. It taxed you with guilt, shame, fear, and finally death. You could not vote it out. You could not reform it. You needed a stronger King to dethrone it.
That is what grace did.
*1. Grace does not beg, Grace reigns.*
Many believers treat grace like a servant they call when they have sinned. "Lord, forgive me." That is true, but it is only half. Grace is not your servant. Grace is your King. A servant waits for your permission. A King gives orders. When you let grace reign, you stop negotiating with sin. You stop saying, "I will try to stop tomorrow." You let the King enforce His rule today.
*2. Grace reigns THROUGH righteousness, not against it.*
Paul says grace reigns _through righteousness. This is critical.
The legalists say righteousness is what you do to earn grace. Both are wrong. Paul says grace produces righteousness. Grace does not ignore your sin and call you righteous. Grace makes you righteous from the inside. It reigns, and as it reigns, it trains you (Titus 2:12), it teaches you, it empowers you to live what you could not live by willpower.
Law says: "Be righteous, then you will be accepted."
Grace says: "You are accepted, therefore you will become righteous."
*3. Grace reigns UNTO eternal life.*
Sin reigned unto death. Grace reigns unto life. Not just life in heaven one day, but life _now_. Eternal life is not just duration, it is quality — _zoe_. A life where death no longer rules your fear, your future, your decisions.
How do you let grace reign practically?
*a) Dethrone sin by enthroning grace daily.*
Every morning, you must consciously say: "Grace, You are King today. Not my feelings. Not my past. Not my appetite. You reign."
*b) Stop living by struggle, start living by surrender.*
The man who fights sin by himself is still under the old king. The man who yields to grace has changed governments.
*c) Let grace speak louder than guilt.*
Guilt is the voice of the old king. Grace is the voice of the new King. When you fail, don't run from the throne. Run _to_ the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). That is where the King reigns.
Grace is crowned above. Sin is chained below. That is not your future. That is your present reality in Christ. You are not trying to make grace win. Grace has already won. Your job is to let it reign.
Grace reigns in my life. Sin has lost its throne. I do not live by my strength, I live by His reign. Through righteousness, grace is producing eternal life in me daily.
