Colossian 4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone
A CHANGED LANGUAGE
One of the goals of every colonial power is to impose the language of the ruling country on the colony. In pre colonial times, nobody spoke English, French or Portuguese in Africa. These languages were imposed on the people by the powers that be. Till date, we are learning these foreign languages because of what a ruling power imposed on us. The colonial masters want to ensure that they are speaking the same language with the people for ease of administration. We would never stop speaking these foreign languages in Africa till Christ comes because we have accepted it as compulsory. The effect of colonialism still continues.
Can God colonize your tongue? The goal of God is to ensure that the way you speak changes. Worldly people speak any how. They curse and rain abuses on people. Their words are not edifying. Instead of building others up, their words tear people down. When God colonize your tongue, you'll begin to speak the language of heaven. I am sure that if God can colonize your heart, the tongue will follow.
Our words should be seasoned with salt. The Bible said the lips of the priest should preserve knowledge and the people should go to him for instruction (Malachi 2:7). You are a priest by reason of redemption(1:5-6). We shouldn't learn slangs from you neither should you be the originator of worldly slangs. Corrupt communication should never be heard from you because it is against the culture of our colonial power. Your tongue should bless, edify and give wise counsel.
Father, colonize my tongue In Jesus name.
