LIVE WITH THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF ETERNITY DAILY
Sometime ago, I was privileged to visit a family that was bereaved. I went in company of some of elders and leaders of an association I belong to. There was a consciousness about heaven in the air. Somehow, almost everyone in that place began to talk as though earthly things are ephemeral. Of course, they are. In my heart, I feel people should visit such places more than feasts and celebrations if that's the only way to be reminded that this earth isn't our home. After that visitation, most people are back to their normal way of life. They've forgotten about heaven.
One of the things that can help us to live circumspectly on this earth is when the thoughts of heaven fill our hearts. So many have forgotten about heaven. They only live for now not for eternity. Those days, believers'sing songs of heaven. Songs like, "My Heavenly home is bright and fair I feel like traveling on". If you sing some of those songs today, some may say, "we are not in a burial ceremony". To them, we should only sing the songs of heaven at funerals. Those that live with consciousness of eternity think about heaven almost everytime. It shapes their lifestyle, decisions and it determines their song.
Purity of heart and character becomes a norm when eternity is in focus. This year, decide to be conscious about eternal matters. Of what use is a life with good cars, houses, education, and all the things that people are seeking for without making it to heaven?
Father, I have decided to live with the consciousness of heaven daily, I desire to live a pure and purposeful life. Help me father. in Jesus name.
