BEFORE ACCEPTING THAT GIFT

A man close to me narrated his experience while working as a driver under his former boss. His former boss had a son who took ill every year. The boy would come down with a strange ailment and they had a family hospital that took care of him.

The father of the boy consulted diviners on behalf of his son. He was told to stop accepting the yearly gift their family doctor use to send to him. As usual, their family doctor sent a big chicken to them. This man instructed his wife not to kill it because of the instruction he had received from his diviners.

Instead of throwing it away, the man's wife gave the live chicken to their driver. He was happy his boss gave him a live chicken. He killed it and ate it with his wife. Not long after, his wife lost a pregnancy and she almost died in the process. In fact, she lost two other pregnancies after that.

How did he know it was his boss' gift that caused his loss? He told me that while driving his boss and his wife around town on a fateful day, they saw their family doctor on the road and they parked to greet him. The doctor asked about their son who was his usual patient and they told him he was fine. Afterwards, they left.

While in the vehicle, his boss told his wife everything he was told and he asked his wife whom she gave the chicken their doctor sent to. He was looking at them through the inner mirror and he saw the wife pointing to him. She avoided that conversation in the presence of their driver. The woman quickly changed the discussion but there he understood the source of his wife's miscarriages.

*Not all gifts are for taking*.

*A spiritually sensitive believer will not take all gifts and eat every food placed before him. Some have traded their destinies and breakthroughs even health with just one plate of meal they ate in the wrong place. Some, it was through a gift they received. You may doubt these things but they are real*.

I keep saying that one thing we need in spiritual warfare is spiritual intelligence. Many have found themselves in a cycle of battles. They have prayed, fasted and  have done all sorts yet no result. They keep asking God why He has abandoned them whereas God is pointing them to something they have not paid attention to.

*The persistence of a battle does not necessarily mean the absence of prayer and fasting. Rather, it could be due to  lack of spiritual intelligence. Knowing what to do to prevent and overcome a battle within the confines of what scripture permits is spiritual intelligence*.

*Not all warfare are won by conventional methods. Veterans know that some enemies just need to avoided or starved to weaken their strength while some need to be confronted. Same applies in spiritual warfare*.

No matter the need you have, not every gift is worth collecting. Always be sensitive when a gift is coming your way. Some ministers have received gifts that put them in trouble sexually while some lost their spiritual eyesight because of a gift.

We are in warfare. Be sensitive.
