Matthew24:40 *Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left*.
Sometime ago, I went to the bank with my dad to make some withdrawals for him. I went upstairs to the transfer section of the banking hall to transfer some money while he sat in the bulk room downstairs waiting for me.
When I returned to the bulk room, he wasn't on seat. I collected the cash hoping he would return but I waited for him but he didn't show up. I asked those who sat around him but no one could tell me his whereabout.
I went outside to check him in the surroundings, he wasn't there not even in the toilet. Everyone saw the confusion written on my face. Suddenly, I heard a demonic voice from within saying rapture had occured and I missed it. I began to rebuke that spirit In Jesus name.
I wondered why the old man would rapture to heaven and leave me behind in Nigeria. I checked everywhere for signs to see If it had truly happened but I found none. All of a sudden, I saw him walking into the compound of the bank from outside. I heaved a sigh of relief.
As I returned home, I ruminated on the issue of rapture. Though some believers do not believe in the doctrine of rapture. In recent times, I have read several rebuttals but none of them is convincing enough when placed side by side with dispensational teachings.
The doctrine of rapture did not start with John Nelson Darby of the Plymouth brethren neither was it Scofield. I agree they emphasized and systematize it but that teaching has been from apostolic times. In fact, historical context of the letter written by Paul to Thessalonians was to address the misconceptions about it.
In church history, a Jesuit father, Francisco Ribera taught it in the 15th century. I see all the recent controversies against this teaching as a ploy to kill the spirit of readiness for eternity among believers. JESUS IS COMING AGAIN.
Paul says, *"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves.Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever*" (1 Thess 4:16-17 NLT).
On that day, when the saints of God rapture, those left behind will be confused and disturbed. Some would rebuke the thought of being left behind as demonic but then, reality would set in.
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the son of man. Many did not believe Noah's message about the flood not until the flood came. Don't be caught unaware, be prepared to meet your God.
