FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINES OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH Pt.10

July 13, 2026 · Lanre Oyeleke · 16 views

2 Timothy 3:16-17 *All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works*.

*HERESIES AGAINST THE INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE* (b)

One agenda of Satan is to corrupt the truth about our faith. He raised so many voices to speak against God, the bible and our core tenets but he has always failed. Today, there is a revival of heresies of yore and it has assumed a new dimension because of how it is packaged.

False teachers are on the rise and they are hard to detect because they have knowledge but the wrong one. They are everywhere on social media dishing out junks but the untrained in the word are swallowing it.

Unfortunately, most of their listeners have not studied wide to detect their errors. This is the reason I am of the opinion that every pastor should turn their pulpits to a mini bible school not just a place to motivate and make people feel good. We need a revival of truth taught and lived. Let's consider another heretical opinion against the bible.

ii. *NEOORTHODOXY: THE BIBLE BECOMES THE WORD OF GOD*.

This is the view that the scripture becomes the word of God in or after a personal encounter. This is a dangerous view.

What they are saying is that the scriptures was never the word of God and but only becomes the word of God when men encounter God through it. This is one of the reasons I don't subscribe to those who teach believers to seek esoteric encounters instead of seeking to know God through His word.

Neoorthodoxy  view the bible as a primitive mythological expression through which God is personally revealed when it is correctly demythologized. Hey! The bible is not a record of myths.

There is nothing to demythologize about the bible. It is a spiritual book given by God through His prophets and apostles. It is not a compendium of folktales, it is the word of God.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 says, *"And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers*".

Writing about the word of God, Apostle Peter says, *"Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, [21] or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God*"( 2 Pet 1:20-21).

With or without encounter, the bible is the word of God. That you have no encounter does not reduce its potency and power. The truth in it is timeless and relevant from generation to generation. It needs no editing or revision.

Action point

The psalmist says, *"For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven*"( Psalm 119:89).
