Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

DECIDE TO GET FINANCIAL EDUCATION

In the 80's, two men had N20 million naira. One was in the entertainment industry while the other man was in the corporate world. The latter invested the money and he became a bank owner. His bank is still thriving till date. The former guy painted the town red and he's barely getting along in the entertainment industry. That's the difference between a man that has financial education and the man that does not. There are believers with similar stories. In fact, a Pastor once told us that the money he wasted could build four houses. Of all the subjects taught in school, most schools don't teach anything about finances. That is why there are broke people with good degrees. One would expect that with good degrees, one should attain a level of financial independence but that is not always the case.

What is financial education? Financial education entails knowing how legitimate money is made, spent, and saved, as well as the skills and ability to use financial resources to make decisions. One thing you and I should not deny is our need for money. Religious folks hate to hear about the subject of money yet they pray for it. If money could be made by prayers, all church folks would be super rich by now. There are unbelievers who are financially sound, they are making legitimate money and they employed believers. I think we should be the ones in-charge of employment. Whoever controls the market controls the economy. Whoever controls the commerce of the nation holds the fate of the nation in his palm.

This year, go get information on how to make money legitimately and how to invest wisely. Heaven's resources comes into the hands of multipliers not wasters. A man said, "If we take all the wealth of the richest people in a country and distribute to the poor, after some years, the wealth will return into the hands of previous owners." I think that is true. Financial education makes the difference. Lack of financial education is the reason why some ladies will carry on their head braids that can buy a land conveniently. Some job-seekers are using phones that could start up a business while some are wearing wrist watches whose worth can pay their bills yet they are begging people to help them with rent. The man that is financially literate does not live to impress people. He may not be super rich but he knows how to live within his income and stay out of debt. He understands the importance of having multiple sources of income. Financial illiteracy is what makes people to rent at exorbitant amount even when they can own. This year, your level of financial education is a huge determinant of your financial freedom.
