UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL Pt.10

November 21, 2025 · Projectsave International

Romans 1:16 *For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek*. KJV

*WHY IT IS CALLED "GOOD NEWS*(D)

The good news is what can save sinners not religion. In the opening text, Paul says, the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. That is, salvation from the consequence of sin. Only the gospel possess such power.

Another reason we call the gospel good news is because it tells us about God's TOTAL FORGIVENESS. The day a sinner comes to Christ, all his sins are forgiven totally no matter how bad he/she has been. The blood of Jesus is God's cleansing detergent.

Ephesians 1:7 says, “In him (Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace" (Emphasis mine).

We need to tell sinners that once they come to Jesus, God will not remember their sins any longer neither will he count their sins against them. This is the gospel. Any other message aside this would be promoting works instead of grace.

Isaiah 43:25 says,  “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more …”.

2 Corinthians 5:19 says, "For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, NO LONGER COUNTING PEOPLE'S SINS AGAINST THEM. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation".

In other religion, there is no assurance of forgiveness of sins. That is why they keep engaging in rituals, recitations and rites to obtain forgiveness for the same sin. Unfortunately, I have heard some believers who say things like, "let's ask God to forgive our childhood sins".

Now, I ask, which sins did God forgave when they came to Christ, adulthood sins or childhood sins? Some believers still believe God couldn't have forgiven all their sins when they came to Jesus some 5,10, years ago. Every now and then, they still say the sinners prayer as though they are giving their life to Jesus.

In fact, the day I heard a pastor say that he normally give his life to Christ every night before sleeping by saying the sinners prayer, I knew he did not understand the gospel neither did he understand what Christ did for him when he gave his life to Christ.

Dearest, you don't need to doubt God's forgiveness. That very day you gave your life to Christ, your sins were forgiven completely. You don't need to do anything to earn it. You only need to believe in the sacrifice of Christ and accept him for your sins to be forgiven. This is the good news.

Isaiah 1: 18 “Come now, let us settle the matter, "says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool".

Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us”.

This is the good news, tell it to sinners.

Action point

Father, I thank you because my sins are forgiven. Help me to preach your total forgiveness to sinners in Jesus name.
