*UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL* Pt.5

Romans 6:23 *"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Christ Jesus our Lord*"

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL- THE GOODNEWS?

Imagine telling sinners about how they inherited the sinful nature from Adam and how that nature has qualified them for spiritual and eternal death in the lake of fire. Also, imagine how the sinner will feel hearing that hell is forever with all its sufferings and pain. What kind of news is that to the sinner, good news or bad news?

You have the answer already. All of that is bad news. If your message to the sinner stops there, you have delivered the bad news and not the good news. What transforms is the good news not the bad news. That good news is what the sinner need to hear because believing it is the precursor to salvation.

Some preachers are preachers of bad news. Sinners are tired of hearing them because their message do not offer any hope or way out from the consequence of sin. They have made sinners feel hopeless and helpless the more

What then is the gospel( good news)? The gospel is the message of salvation from death (spiritual&eternal) through Jesus Christ.  The gospel tells us what we are saved from- death( spiritual&eternal). Also, it tells us what we are saved for - eternal life. This is the gospel.

The core message of the gospel is salvation from sin and its consequence. The gospel explains all that Christ has done on the cross to rescue mankind from the wrath of God that is coming upon all sinners, past, present and future. The scripture below explains the gospel succintly.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NLT

[1] Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it.

[2] It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

[3] I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.

[4] He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

Action Point:

Father, I thank you for your salvation plan that rescued me from the wrath to come. I receive grace to spread this good news to sinners everywhere in Jesus name.
