*UNDERSTANDING THE GOSPEL* Pt.12

2 Corinthians 6:18 *"And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty*"( NLT).

*WHY IT IS CALLED "GOOD NEWS*(F)

Sometime ago, a politician went to campaign in a state dominated by non christians. While on the campaign ground, mistakenly,  he called God father and there was an uproar because no religion understand nor accept the fatherhood of God except in Christianity.

The fatherhood of God is real and it is one of the core messages in the gospel. Being born again is being born into God's family where he is the father. Faith in Jesus is what qualifies anyone to come under the fatherhood of God. He wants a father to son relationship.

"For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:26 NLT)

Understanding the concept of God's fatherhood makes our relationship with him easier and flourishing. Religion sees God differently. More often than not, they see him as one arbitrary being with tyrannical traits.

"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him"( 1 John 3:1 NLT)

God's love towards mankind aims at making us sons while he becomes our father. Anyone without Christ is not in God's family yet. God is the creator of everyone but he is not the father of everyone.

Speaking to the pharisees in John 8:44, Jesus said, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do...". Meaning that Satan can also father those under him.

Religious understanding of God is unbiblical. Instead of understanding him through the person of Christ, myths, tales and legends are the ways through which they understand him. That's inaccurate.

If you have seen Christ, you have seen the father. They are inseparable. Christ will not do what the father has not authorized. That's what Christ tried explaining to the religious pharisees but they did not understand him because religion has darkened and dulled their minds.

"So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does"( John 5:19 NLT)

Through Christ, the sinner can come into God's family and be under the fatherhood of God.

Action Point:

*“Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us*” (Eph 2:18 NLT).
