In the opening text, Paul commended Timothy about how he showed genuine concern for the church in Philipi. He did not just show concern but his was geunine. Meaning that he showed concern not because of what he wanted to get from them but because of his love for their welfare.
I observed that those who show sincere and genuine concern about the welfare of people do not lack favour. Sometimes, you don't attract favour from people by asking for it, you attract it even when you don't ask for it by showing genuine concern for people's welfare.
John C.Maxwell says, "You have to touch the heart before you ask for a hand". That is the law of connection. Until you connect to people's heart genuinely, you may not attract favour.
Most people ask for a hand first and even ignore the former. This is the reason most people who go inbox asking for help from seemingly influential people don't get it. Not because they can't but because they are yet to connect.
Smart people know those who are relating with them just to be used and dumped. They know those who are round them because of what they can get not because of what they can give. A smart man knows those that want to take advantage of him. These kinds of people rarely attract favour because they have the wrong spirit.
Those that have been used to attain the selfish ends of men will never allow men with such intent or nuances to come near them again. Beware of your actions around people, it might be interpreted wrongly. Everyone wants to be around those who love them genuinely not pretenders.
When was the last time you asked about the health, family, jobs, business, academics of that fellow? Or you just go asking for help directly without showing concern about his welfare? Do you reach out to that person only when you need help? If this is you, please change. Start loving people genuinely not only when you need them. Show concern about their welfare.
Those God will use for you are around you. The helpers you are always asking God to send is not far away. They may not even look like it but they have the potential to turn your life around. All you need is to start loving people genuinely and showing concern about their welfare. The helper you need will emerge because you have sown the right seed.
As a preacher, don't get close to the rich only. Show genuine concern about the poor and lowly. Call them, pray with them. The information or connection you need might come from them and not those rich folks you are associating with. I have experienced this as a preacher. My ministry have been introduced to highly placed people by those whom I never thought have such connections.
If Naaman was only concerned about listening to or associating with a class of people, he may have died a leper. It took his house help to point him to where he could get help. Something tells me he cared for that house help to the point where that house help could suggest to him where he could be helped. Even our house maid can be an agent of favour if we treat them well.
Dear preacher, pray for people genuinely not because you are expecting anything in return from them. The bible did not say we'll reap where we sow rather it says we'll reap what we sow. Keep sowing prayer, genuine love and concern. You will reap it soon.
The law of life is that you give value to attract value. What you sow, you will reap. If you don't sow genuine concern into the lives of people, you will not reap favour.
Favour is not hard to get, you only need to develop attitudes that can attract it.
