Leonard Ravenhill authored a book that brought a revolution to my prayer life. The title is: "Why Revival Tarries". I recommend the book to all believers.
Another book I read was "Seven Great Prayer Warrior". This book documented the exploits of men that prayed in our generation. I'm not anywhere near their consistent devotion in the place of prayer yet. Ayo Babalola was a man of prayer. He prayed down revival.
Mary, the queen of Scotland once said: "I fear the prayer of John Knox more than the assembled armies of Europe". John Knox was a one man army who changed the course of protestant Christianity in Scotland.
He was so passionate about making impact in his nation and he prayed: "Give me Scotland or I die". Till date, his name is written in gold in the annals of Protestant history of Scotland. He was a prayerful man.
This generation doesn't really know much about soul-hot prayers yet they criticize those that are making attempt to pray. If God will do a thing in any generation, he needs praying men to activate his will.
Charles G.Finney prayed down conviction on his listeners and in less than 20 minutes of preaching, men would be on the floor crying in repentance.
Prayer is the permission we give to God to move on behalf of men.
I doubt if there's anything God will do without praying men. Elijah was a man just as we are but he took charge of the affairs of a nation on his knees. Nothing is impossible for a praying man. No prayer no revival.
John Wesley's prayer was the reason alcohol was not sold in a particular vicinity for over a century. Preaching affects time but prayer affects eternity that is why the legacies of praying men outlast them. Whatever impact you want to make in your generation, it cannot be done without prayer.
"To be much for God, you have to be much with God in the place of prayer".
