Justification is a new testament doctrine that places the believer in a different class from those in the old testament. It is one of the works of grace to the man who accept Jesus as his Lord&saviour.
The first truth you need to know is that justification cannot be achieved by obeying the laws of Moses neither can we earn justification through rule-keeping or our own good works.
"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin" (Romans 3:20 KJV).
There was no way those in the time of Moses could have been justified because the law was not designed to justify anyone.
In Galatians 2:16, Paul says, "KNOWING THAT A MAN IS NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified".
The Mosaic code was 613 in number and no one I mean no one could have kept those laws in its entirety. The legal code was weak and couldn't justify any man. It could not make anyone righteous.
Speaking about the law, the writer of Hebrews(7:18) says, "The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless".
To think that you can be justified by obeying set of rules is to disregard the finished work of Christ on the cross. Your justification is not because of anything you've done but because of what He (Christ) has done. Hallelujah!!!
I'm glad to tell you that your sins are forgiven and the record does not exist anymore: "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more"(Hebrews 8: 12).
You have been declared innocent of your past sins and freed from the prison of guilt that comes with it. Christ took up your punishment on the cross in His death and you now have His righteousness imputed to you: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him"(2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV).
Religion does not understand how a sinful man can be made innocent just because of his faith in Christ. Unfortunately, some church folks still do not understand this because they've been taught wrongly and they see it too cheap. Yes it is cheap to us but someone paid the price. Whatever anyone believes, the word of God stands.
The believer is no longer guilty of any sin in his past as long as he has received Christ. The new man is justified and made righteous.
You now have access to God's throne room without fear and guilt of the past. Don't allow anyone lock you in the prison of your past.
